Dark roasted coffees actually
have LESS caffeine than medium
roasts. The longer a coffee is
roasted, the more caffeine burns
off during the process.
It takes five years for a coffee
tree to reach maturity. The average
yield from one tree is the equivalent
of one roasted pound of coffee.
The world's largest coffee
producer is Brazil with over 3,970
million coffee trees. Colombia
comes in second with around two
thirds of Brazil's production.
Of the various botanical species
of coffee trees in the world,
only two are extensively cultivated
commercially; Arabica and Robusta.
It is consumed at the rate of
1400 million cups per day.
